Frequently asked questions

  • All registrations are completed via the Rugby Xplorer app. For a step-by-step guide, please read our detailed registration instructions (PDF, 290 KB).

  • All teams train on Thursdays from 6 PM at Pennant Hills Oval #1.

  • Simply email us at registrar@bbjru.com.au with your child’s full name and date of birth to receive your code.

Getting Started

  • Your registration fee covers:
    ✔ Player insurance
    ✔ Competition entry fees
    ✔ Club jersey (loaned for the season)
    ✔ Club socks and shorts (yours to keep)
    ✔ Training sessions with professional coaches

    Additional merchandise can be purchased separately.

  • If you’re eligible, you can apply for a $50 Active Kids Voucher to go towards registration fees. Parents can apply for two vouchers each year- one for each school term. To apply, visit the Service NSW Active Kids Voucher page. You may use only one voucher per registration, so be sure to apply it for the appropriate term.

  • No, you must have your Active Kids Voucher BEFORE registering.

Fees & Inclusions

Age Groups & Teams

  • Your child's age on 1 January determines their team. For example, if they turn 6 in 2025, they will play in Under 6s. More details on age group eligibility and potential dispensations are available here.

  • While generally discouraged for safety reasons, players may be eligible to move up an age group through the dispensation process. Applications are assessed based on specific criteria by the Minis or Juniors Vice President. For full details on dispensation, visit the Sydney Junior Rugby Union Dispensation webpage.

  • All players need:
    ✔ Mouthguard
    ✔ Football boots

    Optional equipment:
    ✔Headgear (optional, commonly used in Junior grades)
    ✔ Shoulder pads (optional, typically used in Junior grades)

    The club provides:
    ✔ Club socks and shorts
    ✔ Rugby balls and training equipment

    • Minis (U9 and below) play on Saturdays at various locations across Sydney, depending on the competition draw.

    • Juniors (U10 and above) play on Sundays, with games held at different locations across Sydney, depending on the competition draw.

    Home games for both Minis and Juniors are held at Pennant Hills Oval #1. The full season draw will be released closer to the start of the season and is available in Rugby Xplorer.

  • Generally, yes. Teams are based on birth year, but in some cases, players may be approved to play in a different age group through the dispensation process.

  • Transfers must be processed through Rugby Xplorer. Contact us at registrar@bbjru.com.au for assistance.

  • Yes! A portion of your fees covers the ARU Insurance Plan, which applies to injuries during:
    ✔ Training
    ✔ Matches
    ✔ Club tours (interstate & overseas)

    The policy covers expenses not claimable through Medicare (e.g. physio, dental, splints, crutches). We recommend having private health insurance for additional coverage.
